"My art is a continuous dialogue between the past and the present, a bridge between African and European cultures, an ultra-contemporary reinterpretation

Ultra-modern lines from the past
Inspired by scarification, these indelible marks engraved on the face or "Niass" in the Wolof language, Baro Sarré offers a unique and personal vision of contemporary Afropean art. Through his art, he tells the history and identity of African peoples, transforming these traditional symbols into a futuristic aesthetic that celebrates strength, belonging and beauty.
The "Niass" are present in each of the artist's works: from paintings to photographs, including clothing, communication objects and a Food-truck, in a fusion of manual and digital techniques.
The series
Human Spirit
The Human Spirit series is a tribute to the uniqueness and beauty of each individual, while honoring the unparalleled strength
of the human mind.
For the artist, we are all exceptional beings, bearers of a star that only asks to shine. His creations reveal this inner light, this energy that transcends the boundaries of the visible to illuminate the invisible. The gaze of each of Baro's characters captivates the captive spectator of a futuristic chromatic palette that, paradoxically, makes us forget color to celebrate the universality of humanity.
The portraits come from the artist's own photographs or from photographs of personalities. The final work represents less than 10% of the initial photograph.
All works are numbered editions with certificate of authenticity.

Lines of the past
NIASS
This Niass series depicts the balance between geometric lines, repeated patterns and harmony of colors offering a captivating, disturbing, almost mystical artistic experience.
Inspired by scarifications, these indelible marks engraved on faces or "Niass" in the Wolof language, Baro Sarré offers a unique and personal vision of contemporary Afro-European art. The artist works his patterns first by hand, with pencils or pens in a sketchbook, then by transforming them digitally, he remains faithful to the classic drawing while exploiting this high technology of which he is an expert.
